Advantages of colloidal batteries




1. Floating charging current and battery loss

A lot of people think that the floating charging current of the colloidal battery is small and the battery is low. This view is not comprehensive. Documents provided in 14.4 v (40 ℃) sealed 36 floating condition a. h floating with rich liquid type battery charging flow contrast:

Rich fluid: 50 ~ 80mA

AGM sealed battery: 250 ~ 300mA

Colloidal sealed battery: 100 ~ 150mA

The floating charging current is mainly used to replenish the energy required for the cathode absorption of the battery self-discharge and oxygen. The liquid-rich battery can be considered to have no oxygen cathode absorption reaction, so the float charging flow is the minimum. Both of the above reactions in the AGM sealed battery are present, so the floating charging flow is relatively large. The tiny fissures generated by the gel shrinkage of the newly made colloidal batteries are not fully formed. There is no adequate channel for the oxygen in the positive plate. The oxygen channel is only the gas chamber at the top of the group. So the float charging flow is somewhere in between.

But to work in the battery 0.5 1 years later, the gaps in the colloid is fully formed, then the float charging flow will gradually increase, but not more than the corresponding AGM battery, it can be obtained from the change of gas composite gel battery efficiency. Because of this, the new colloidal battery has a large loss of water. In the first year, the loss of water was about 5 percent, and the loss of water decreased gradually in the following years, and the total loss of water was only 2 percent after 4 years.

2. Thermal efficiency during charging

The open hole of the unsaturated partition of AGM cells makes it easy for oxygen to penetrate the negative plate, so that the negative potential is reduced by oxygen depolarization (moving forward). Under constant pressure buoyant charging state, the positive potential is moving in the positive direction, presenting a higher polarization state, resulting in a much larger amount of oxygen. The latter reacts with the negative electrode, releasing a lot of heat, which eventually causes the heat to get out of control.

Gel battery can under the condition of low voltage electrical, float charging down in AGM battery, so the speed of the oxygen producing is lower than AGM battery, together with the thermal conductivity of the gel electrolyte is better than AGM, and gel battery will not produce thermal runaway phenomenon.

3. Low temperature characteristics

The low temperature and large current discharge capacity of the battery is mainly controlled by the negative electrode. At low temperature, the diffusion rate of ions is slowed down, and the reaction rate of the active substance becomes smaller. More importantly, the cathode produces a compact PBSO4 layer. The practice shows that the low temperature of the colloid battery is better than the AGM battery. This may be due to the adsorption effect of silicon gel to reduce the degree of supersaturation of liquid near the electrode layer of lead sulfate and lead sulfate that formed the cathode surface grain is relatively bulky, reduced the covering on the surface of the cathode, thus improve the gel battery discharge performance at low temperature.
